Industry Overview
In modern industrial cooling and HVAC systems, maintaining water quality is paramount to system longevity and thermal efficiency. The ArkFlow Side-Stream Water Processor represents the next generation of water treatment technology, evolving from traditional full-flow systems. Designed specifically for bypass installation, this unit effectively manages scaling, corrosion, and biological fouling by processing a small fraction (2%-5%) of the circulating water, making it an ideal choice for large-scale systems where full-flow treatment is impractical or energy-intensive.
Core Working Principle: Overlaid Pulse Electric Field
The ArkFlow system operates on the principle of a superimposed pulse low-voltage electric field. When water passes through the treatment chamber, the electrical energy reduces the aggregation of water molecules, increasing their dipole moment and surface tension.
-
Active Descaling & Anti-Scaling: Under the influence of the electric field, the processor generates a massive amount of “micro-crystals.” These crystals act as preferential nuclei for scale-forming ions ($Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$). Instead of forming hard, stubborn calcite scale on heat exchange surfaces, these ions form loose, suspendable aragonite crystals. These non-adherent particles are then easily captured by the integrated filtration unit and discharged through the automatic blowdown valve.
-
Advanced Sterilization & Legionella Eradication: Safety in cooling towers is often compromised by Legionella and organic slime. The ArkFlow processor electrolyzes water to produce highly reactive oxygen species (ROS), including hydroxyl radicals ($OH^-$), ozone ($O_2$), and hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$). These substances possess powerful oxidizing properties that penetrate microbial cell walls, destroying their DNA and metabolic pathways. This process provides a chemical-free environment that is lethal to bacteria and algae.
-
Pipe Passivation & Corrosion Protection: Corrosion is the “silent killer” of industrial piping. By activating dissolved oxygen and generating controlled oxidative species, the ArkFlow processor encourages the formation of a stabilized Magnetic Oxide ($Fe_3O_4$) layer on the metal surfaces. This passivation film acts as a physical and electrochemical barrier, isolating the pipe wall from the corrosive water environment and significantly extending the equipment’s service life.
Why Choose Side-Stream Treatment?
Unlike full-process units that require massive housing and high pressure drops, the side-stream approach allows for:
-
Reduced Footprint: Smaller equipment size fits easily into existing pump rooms.
-
Continuous Operation: Maintenance can be performed on the bypass line without shutting down the entire circulating system.
-
Optimized Flow Dynamics: Minimal impact on the main system’s hydraulic balance.
